July 2nd- first day at Overlake

12am- Arrived at the hospital, got checked in and monitored because I had not felt the baby move for a day and half. The baby's heart beat was found right away (yeah!). While we were in the Oasis getting monitored, the baby's heart beat dropped a couple times, so they kept us longer than they would usually. As the nurse was explaining what was happening and letting us know how much longer we will be in the Oasis, his heart rate dropped again and in came two other nurses. One laid the bed down all the way, one flipped me on my side and the other one get oxygen on me. They then started a IV and told me that we would not be going home and that we were going to be admitted overnight for more monitoring. Then explained the reason for the IV was in case they had to take the baby out ASAP. After all this excitement, they moved me to a labor/delivery room and admitted me over night.

2am- After we got settled in, Will went and got a couple things from the car and I called my sister to let her know what was happened and asked her for prayers. I then called Marisa to let her know that we were admitted and that I would call her in the morning to let her know what was happening.

8am- Dr. Brown (the OB on call) came in to talk about what happened over night and the options of what and where to go from here. The options were getting induced (which she mentioned could end up in a c-section) or we could just go home and wait for him to come on his own (but not knowing why or if his heart rate is dropping). Will and I quickly talked and decided to get induced and just take the chance that it could end up in a c-section. Dr. Brown let us know that she would let us get some breakfast and let me take a shower before she would start the inducing.

11am- Dr. Brown came back and inserted a gel into my cervix, which was step one of our induction. She did not want to start with pitocin because my body was really not ready (I was only 1 cm dilated and not effaced at all). Once the gel was inserted, I was only able to lay flat on my side for a couple hours. Will headed home to grab a couple things we forgot, so a couple things around the house and get a little nap in. While he was gone, Marisa was there entertaining me :) And then my parents came to visit and hang out for a while. It was nice to have some company.

12noon- Contractions started! We ordered some lunch and just kept hanging out (on my side).

3:30pm- Will came back to join in the fun of waiting and trying to get some sleep.

6:30pm- Have not made much progress, but the progress I made the OB and nurse were very pleased with. At this point, the nurse inserted a pill in my cervix which was going to increase the contractions. At this point I was pretty comfortable, just hanging out and a little tired. Got a phone call from my sister Janet who was getting ready to leave Kazakhstan to come home! After the phone call, we had more visitors- my sister Karen, Brad, Stephen and Johnny. They brought some food for Marisa and Will. Then shortly after they left, my parents came again to visit. It was wonderful having some visitors!

10:45-11ish- Dr. Brown came back and was very pleased with the progress. I was now at 2cm and 50% effaced. At this point, we got a new nurse (she was amazing, actually all of my nurses were amazing we were so lucky) and she started the pitocin. Our nurse Anglea was amazing- she made me progress a ton and knew exactly what to do to make me comfortable. Shortly after the pitocin started the intensity of my contractions started.
